This role is critical to defining and guiding the technical evolution of our cutting-edge cryogenic photon detection systems, ensuring architectural coherence across hardware, software, and integration domains while supporting our product vision and market requirements. What you'll be doing In this role, you will be an integral part of the development process for IDQ’s SNSPD platform, with applications across quantum computing, networking, and sensing. You will be at the intersection of quantum photonics, cryogenic systems engineering and embedded systems to create scalable, maintainable architectures for autonomous 24/7 detector operations.  You will take ownership of the end-to-end system architecture of the SNSPD platform, ensuring alignment with a shared long-term product vision while translating product requirements into clear system-level designs and specifications. In this hands-on role, you will design, validate, and continuously improve mechanical enclosures and subsystems that integrate optical and electronic components for our quantum products. You will take ownership of mechanical solutions from early prototyping through to industrialized product release, with a strong focus on delivering compact, robust, and cost-effective designs. This includes 3D modelling and documentation, engineering calculations and simulations, and hands-on testing to validate thermal dissipation and mechanical performance. You will collaborate closely with optical, electronic, and system engineers to optimise interfaces and block specifications, and you will engage with external suppliers to prototype and manufacture parts efficiently. You will implement the software side of modern post-quantum algorithms: reference models, optimised implementations, and the test infrastructure that proves they are correct. This is a hands-on development role at the heart of applied cryptography, working with some of the most experienced cryptographic engineers in the field. Responsibilities: You will implement and maintain reference and bit-accurate models of ML-KEM, ML-DSA and SLH-DSA/LMS in C/C++/Rust and Python, develop constant-time software implementations of cryptographic functions, and build out the known-answer-test and test-vector tooling (NIST ACVP) used for verification and CAVP certification.
